Visual Text 1.7 (English).

The type of visual text I am going to create is a identity visual.

I am going to base my static image on me, my life, and the things most important to me.

The images I am going to use are images created using storyboard creator found on google chrome.

I am going to use these images because most of these images give a description on who, and what I am interested in.

The reason i did this layout was because it puts my life in order and shows people the dreams, and interests, and also a little look into my life.

Formal persuasive writing.

Did you know a top cell phone user spends up to almost half their day on their smartphones rather than with other people? Mobile phones control people’s lives.

People spend too much time on their phones; they don’t know what else is going on around them. For instance, the evidence I have gathered shows that smartphone users spend up to 4 or 5 hours on their mobile. The proof shows that most people use half of their time or day on their mobiles, meaning 35 hours being wasted on your mobile device each week, also average smartphone users spend up to 3 hours and 15 minutes per day. What you will see when you are out in public is a great number of people on their cell phones rather than socializing with someone or someone they are with. Being on your mobile devices for too long can also alter your brain chemistry, and could most likely lead to depression. Maybe next time I’ll count how many people are on their mobile phones.

We as the people depend way too much on our cell phones. We depend on our smartphones, to entertain, educate, and for work  like social media entertainers. We use things and or apps like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, snap,  and the most used or downloaded app in the world, TIK TOK. All these platforms we use for entertainment or updates on other people’s lives. Our world has developed so much we now have a platform that delivers your food at your doorstep. Also, having to use a mobile phone for a job means more time spent on your mobile device rather than with other people. Writer Annie Dillard said. “For many of us, they spend much of our days at work; in fact, the average person will spend 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime.” You use most of your life working, meaning people who use social media as a job spend most of their lifetime on their mobile devices to make money. Depending on my device makes me think, It might as well be my parents.

Also, with our world developing, Humans now can use mobile technology while driving, making smartphones a road safety hazard for most people. For instance,  data from the Ministry of Transport showed that there were 249 fatal and or injury-causing car crashes per 100,000 people caused by mobiles. This shows a quarter of the drivers in New Zealand  are distracted by their mobiles, causing them to lose focus on the roads they are cruising down. Also telling us how dangerous mobile devices can be while driving, or when trying to focus on two things happening at once. The thing mobiles are usually being used for today is for GPS or music, or so most people use it for the time to contact people while driving, also creating a dangerous environment for fellow passengers who ride along with you. I wouldn’t want my drive to have a conversation on the phone while I'm their passenger, would you? Things must change!

Mobile phones are taking control of a persons’ life.

It causes too many crashes, People depend very much on mobile devices, and also people spending too much time on their devices instead of with other people.

English (Visual Text)... (STILL IN PROGRESS!)

 Static images:

What is a static image? A static image is a visual image that doesn't move, most static image communicate by combining visual elements with words, for instance like that image on the left, colouring, and huge lettering.

The reason they used huge lettering and bright and light red and white was because the huge lettering gets or catches the readers attention to read the sign. Bright and light red colouring was used to catch the peoples eyes, and the white is just another colour that goes nicely with the sign and also to also share positive actions, also having black as the background makes it easier for people to see what the picture, sign, or poster is trying to say, lastly the reason they used that font was because they wanted a font that was big and thick enough for people to understand.

What the photo or poster is conferencing is that people need to stop texting, calling, while driving, and have those words 'STOP IT!' makes it easier for people to understand the context of the message.

This static image shows that the creator of the sonic poster used colours like blue and dark backgrounds because he wanted to attract us the viewers to the posters. Why? Because he wants people to come watch his movie. The creator of the poster also used big thick fonts such as that specific one that says 'sonic'. Having a font like that mixed with the blue makes the poster look nice and cool making peoples minds think to themselves that the movie might actually be good to watch, just by reading the title. The blue combined with the words 'sonic' also symbolises electricity meaning we have an idea of what maybe the movie is about. We won't know unless we watch it.

This static image is a static image of the front page of a movie. This picture of the front page of the movie gives us a big idea of what the movies about, and also who stars in the film. Having the title 'A monster calls' and also having a monetarist giant in the shot shows that its about a boy and a giant tree like creature. The front pages of the movie is where we start thinking in our heads what type of movie or genre it is. Ranging from Action, to adventure, Drama or horror, if it were a horror movie, the background would have dark colours such as black, grey or even white, but instead we have light colours like white clouds, blue-ish skies with a sun setting and also bit of green meaning emotional. From what I think, the movie maybe about happiness, and creativity. The cover also shows depth, which is the two dimensional effect given.

In this static image we have dark colours such as dark blue, black, and what looks to be a light-ish, dark-ish purple, with a dominant zombie like hand raised in the air coming out of the ground. If we look closely it is simply just a log with a zombie arm and hand like figure, the creator did this to trick us into thinking it is a zombie poster when really it is just a piece drift wood or log. Not only does this look like a poster but it also looks some what like a painting, the painter did this by visualising what was in his head and transferring it onto a paper. With some photographs been taken and editing been done, they have been able to transfer a piece of art onto the web, allowing more people like us to view the image of their air.

The meaning of Pathos, Logos, and Ethos.

Pathos: is an appealing of emotions. It is used to evoke an emotional response to a consumer, and it can also include emotions such as fear and guilt. For instance The pathos of the Children's Crusade of 1212 only nerved him to fresh efforts.

Logos: Logos is the persuasive technique that aims to convince an audience by using logic and reason. Also called “the logical appeal,” logos examples in advertisement include the citation of statistics, facts, charts, and graphs. It is used to show the statistics of something. For instance 'the immutability of God requires the eternity of the Logos and of the world'.

Ethos: Ethos is an argument that appeals to the audience by emphasising the speaker's credibility and authority. Ethos is a way of appealing to an audience by showing one's credibility and ethical character. This is one of the three modes of persuasion in rhetoric, as distinguished by Aristotle, the other two being pathos and logos. For instance "As a doctor, I am qualified to tell you that this course of treatment will likely generate the best results."

English: Synthesis within and between text.

What and how are we learning this?

- What we are learning is Tone, Soundtrack, and facial expressions of a film.
Here are some examples of 3 synthesis.
*Tone- The mood or the atmosphere of the film or scene.
*Soundtrack- Something that is synchronised to images of a motion picture.
*Facial expressions- The way the character reacts to a certain scene, or situation.

we are learning this by working through slides and watching different trailers, movies scenes, and also short films, the reason we learn this way is that so we can practice on how they use those 3 film techniques.

Why are we learning this?

The reason we are learning this is so that we can get the idea of the movie, and understand what the directors and producers are trying to show us, and or tell us, and it makes it easier for people to understand the scenes and the whole movie.

How did it go?

It went well, there was a lot of reading but i would say it was worth it because i can finally watch a movie or short film and understand some of the scenes they are showing, whether it being fictional or not.

Creative writing 1.4

She was sure this was where he had disappeared as
footprints marked the ground like a permanent tattoo, and trails of blood
fled the scene alongside birds singing lullabies, wind whistling, and leaves
scratching each other like a cat clawing the wall. She was startled by the sudden
noises heard coming beneath her rubber boots, a silent voice of terror hissing in the
distance, “What was that?” She said to herself. She continued her journey towards the
sound, as she got closer the hair on the back of her neck stood as if someone was pulling
it,
and goosebumps of winter appeared down along her
arms, ‘Am i being watched’ she was thinking to herself,
“HeLpPp!!!” the growl of a deepend voiced human fled the forest
alongside heavy winds, she sprinited as far as possible fleeing the
area, as she exited the forest, the echo of the voice got quieter and quieter.
She started realising that, that could have been him, screaming for help, or maybe
he was being tortured as she was making her way through the forest, who knows what
had happened.

Not knowing the tale behind the forest she didn’t wanna leave without a trace,
she sat on the curb of the parking lot thinking of what could have made that sound,
or what could have made something scream so loud, ‘maybe it was a bear, happily eating
its salmon’, she was thinking of many ways to get her mind of the anonymous scream.
The sun started to seek shelter behind earth's waves, and the moon started to set light to
the night sky as it rose above the brown swaying brunches. 20 minutes of thinking about
entering the forest went by, she finally chose what she wanted to do, so she entered back
into the dark, misty forest to continue the hunt. As she strolled along the misty forest, she
heard leaves cracking, brunches snapping, and wind howling, “Somethings not right” she
whispered underneath her breath, “Who's there?” A man I had never seen before shouted
with a cracked  voice, standing stiff, legs inches apart from each other, he was holding a
bright
torch shining it the direction i was standing, that was when i took the hardest turn of my life,
i slowly turned around like a sloth, CraCk! A brunch snapped, “Come out now!” he yelled,
i slowly shifted towards the light, “I’m innocent” I said with my hands above my head, my hands
were shaking, arms were vibrating, and my legs as wobbly as a strip of spaghetti. “What are you
doing out here so late Mrs?” I shrugged my shoulders, i couldn’t really speak properly, because
i was scared i would get
locked up, or even worse “I’m just taking a late walk” i suddenly said, “Who are you?”
I asked. “I am the park ranger, I think you should come with me and get something
warm for you”.

As the Park ranger took me down this rocky, and uneasy trail the ranger told me a
horrifying story about the forest he said
It was said in 1989, a man who lived in a busted up town lured men and
women into the woods, using screams of little children, or boxes of fake money and
he would slaughter them as a sacrifice, and turn their kids into his slaves also known
as the black eyed children, the people who still live in that town nicknamed him
The Slasher, and till this day no one, and i mean no one lived to describe the face of The
slasher. They say he lives on till this day”.  “The only reason
I took this job was because i wanted to find who killed my parents
and save this town from whatever lurks in these woods” the man said angrily.
“AHHHHHHH, HELP!” we heard someone scream a scream of terror from the darkest
depth of the forest which was downwards besides the muddy, rocky creek, “HELP ME!”
the person continued, the tone sounded familiar as if i heard it before, I started shaking,
the ranger shone his torch that direction as fast as he could. The closer we got the louder
the sound became, and on that night you would never believe what we had discovered.
