...Science Work...

What is Pumice?

How does it form from Volcanoes?

What are its properties?

How is it like Hockey Pockey?

How did we make it, and get it foamy?

1. A very light and porous volcanic rock formed when a gas-rich froth of glassy lava solidifies rapidly.

2. The vesicles are actually gas bubbles that were trapped in the rock during the rapid cooling of a gas-rich frothy magma. The material cools so quickly that atoms in the melt are not able to arrange themselves into a crystalline structure. Thus, pumice is an amorphous volcanic glass known as a "mineraloid."

3.
1. Composition. Pumice has a chemical composition similar to that of obsidian, or volcanic glass. ...
2. Density. Pumice is very lightweight. ...
3. Buoyancy. Pumice stones are so lightweight they will usually float on water for a time, before eventually sinking
once becoming waterlogged. ...
4. Abrasivity. ...
5. Color.

4. It looks like Hockey Pockey because, when it gets hard, it looks like it, and when it is cooking and in its liquid form it looks different.

5. We made it foam by using Baking soda.
If you are wondering how we made Hockey Pockey, Well we used:

*Sugar.
*Golden Syrup.
*Baking soda.
*Spoon to stir.
